Introducing the Spacemaker blog
Hi! I’m Leanne, founder and owner of Spacemaker.
How it began…
It all started with a fixer-upper. A 1950s-higgledy-piggledy-layout, bags-of-potential-bungalow. After tracing out the floor plan and some intense brainstorming, THE design solution came. I call it a solution because the way I see spatial design is like a puzzle to solve. I love a good puzzle!
I don’t like spatial design, I love it!
We mastered the planning application process, the tender process, the building process…and I loved every minute. I realised that this is what I love doing - looking at any kind of space and thinking, how would I re-arrange this to make it flow more smoothly/feel more spacious/be better organised? I also realised that I do this ALL THE TIME without even realising I’m doing it. I could be in a shop, a cafe, a house, a library, looking in a cupboard even - anywhere! So after gaining a qualification in Architectural Technology and Design, ‘Spacemaker’ was born.
Spacemaker’s vision
I want to help people re-imagine their home and solve their unique problems in the design of their particular space.
Do you need to squeeze something in like a home office or a utility room? Is the flow of your space awkward and you’re tripping over each other/stuff? Do you need more storage but don’t know how or where to put it? Has a space turned into a dumping ground so you’re not making the most of the space you do have? Perhaps you’re unsure whether to extend and use some of the outside space you have? I LOVE thinking about and solving these problems.
So if you would like me to help you take the frustration out of your living space and come up with solutions that suit you and your budget, I’d love to come alongside you and work with you.
Why this blog?
As I embark on this creative adventure of spatial design and creating solutions, I want to use this blog to share thoughts on various aspects related to space in the home: the ideas and inspiration I have, some of the projects I get to do and the things I learn as I go. I would love to have you follow the journey with me.
I’m excited for what’s ahead for Spacemaker!
